The Good Word Report: Call the Experts
Last fall, when I was brainstorming the idea for Car Window Poetry, I decided the encouraging poems that would be written would be left on car windows because they're usually a destination for negative messages – parking tickets, poorly designed flyers, or notes announcing someone hit your car. I wanted to change the narrative and share something positive.
When NBC Nightly News featured Car Window Poetry during its Inspiring America segment last November, one South Philadelphia woman, Sarah, felt like she could incorporate the project locally with her company, Safelite AutoGlass, who pride themselves on being car window replacement experts.
Together with employees at her store in southern New Jersey, Sarah distributed Car Window Poetry cards to a local elementary school and invited kids to share their words. Now, her employees plan to give the cards to customers after they get their auto glass replaced.
I love this story so much because it shows that everyone everywhere has been placed somewhere for a purpose. Wherever you've been placed, you have the ability to encourage others. For you, it may look like complimenting a class. Or you may be like Sarah and have customers that visit your store regularly that you can share encouraging poems with.
However you're spreading kindness, I want you to know that you're changing the world. Kindness is contagious, and one small act of love can make a big difference in the lives of those around you and spread to places you never thought it could go.
Speaking of places I never thought kindness could go, I recently learned that over 1,000 Car Window Poetry cards have been downloaded from our website in countries all around the world – Germany, South Africa, Malaysia, Indonesia, the United States, and many more! That's thousands of poems shared and countless people inspired, all because of you. Honestly, thank you so much.
