Uganda Day 5: You Will Be a Rebuilder

On June 13th, my team and I traveled to the Arapai subdistrict for our first Empowerment Day.

Brandi spoke to the mamas about the process of rebuilding and how they are rebuilders. Rebuilders of themselves, rebuilders of their communities, rebuilders of the world.

Later on, after Brandi spoke, we gave each mama a brick and said, “You will be a rebuilder!” The brick is meant to serve as a reminder for them when doubts enter in.

What happened next was amazing. Many mamas celebrated their bricks, but some of them even got together with their communities and began praying over the bricks.

I’m here to remind you that you are a rebuilder, as well. What happened in the past doesn’t have to define your future. Your story isn’t over yet. It’s worth being embraced, and it’s worth being shared; not because stories are powerful in and of themselves, but because you are.

You will be a rebuilder.

With love,
