The Good Word Report: Words Matter
When Stacey received the Car Window Poetry poem above, she hadn’t been feeling quite smart, sweet or marvelous. If you asked her to describe herself, she probably wouldn’t have used words like “awesome” or “ray of sunshine.”
But just as Sophie Victoria (@simplysophv) recently tweeted, “Sometimes there will be a beautiful human who shares with you the words you need to hear and a simple gift that brings you to tears.”
I’m a believer that you don’t have to say a lot in order for it to mean a lot. You just have to be willing to step out and share your words. Because the truth is people are hurting and words matter.
It’s not difficult to hop on social media, see all the #MeToo posts, and recognize that people (in this case, mainly women) are hurting. Your words could be exactly what someone needs to make it through whatever they’re experiencing.
The world is a dark place and it can often feel like it’s not getting any brighter, but what we need right now aren’t more storms. We need more people who are willing to be rainbows in the clouds of those around us.
If you’re looking for a simple way to go out into the world and spread love and kindness, I encourage you to gather your friends, write encouraging poems, and share them on car windows!
